Story

Every bag, wallet and accessory is designed, cut and sewn by Edward in his Manchester based studio.

'I first started to create leather goods, mainly bags, in my spare time whilst studying for a degree in Fine Art.
I was originally using leather off-cuts which tended to be the edges of the hides with a rough and natural shape. Sewing these together would determine the design, shape, and size of the bags. It was a very organic process that produced very organic designs, you never knew quite what the result would look like until the end. I still work organically when developing new designs and collections but the handwriting from all those first designs when I launched in 2005 is still there. I often revisit older designs and reinvent them for new collections. Nowadays most of my work has a minimalist style, which is where my passion lies when looking at sculpture, art, and other design objects. 
My aim moving forward with de Lacy is to continue to grow the brand organically. I have a passion for creating timeless, understated, high-quality products that offer an alternative to the mainstream luxury brands out there.'—Edward de Lacy.
